In the first post you wrote your mpc is running 1.12?

Are you familiar with SCSI? ID's, termination, cables...

yeah IDE/atapi zip drives 100% work with 1.14... the 1.20 is only for IDE/atapi CF adapter recognition.

pretty much any scsi zip drive by iomega will work, but 100 and 250 work the best... there are mixed results with zip 750s on the mpc. And the power socket for the floppy drive has a 5 volt pin, so if you can get a mini molex to molex adapter cable it will power the IDE zip drive.

I solved my problem :)

I read the suggestion about jumpers after I complete the mission but it was probably it.

Propably the jumpers where plugged in the wrong place. I tried a lot of combinations, and nothing worked. Then I decided to sell my mpc and even started to look for a person who will buy.

Then, in act of desperation, I decided to try one, lost time. I tried to plug my floppy, and... IT WORKED. I made an update, and now I've got my CF reader installed.

It looks like I am the noobiest noob ever... But in the way of trying, trying, asking and asking, somehow I am succesfull :) And I learned some about the inside of mpc ;)

From this place I want to thank everyone who read my story :D and helped me in any way.

THANK YOU GUYS!

Hey Zubru,

I feel like i'm havin' the exact same problem as you but without the redemption bit... yet.

I had already theorized that the FDD wasn't getting enough power... but was wondering if you could advise me on the cable placement that finally worked out for you? I am on the brink of desperation/ chasing down all sorts of crazy options but think you may be able to help!

Cheers

I have a similar problem I ordered the mcd kit from mpc stuff, and I put the floppy that it came with into my reader and it wouldnt read it, it would just say type = ?????.
After looking online I thought the floppy reader was broke so I switched it for another floppy drive. Once this floppy drive was in I inserted the floppy again and it just says disk read error. Whats wrong? Is it the floppy drive or the disk?
