installing 8 out board (ibm280 p8)..quick question

im running a 2kxl MCD.

its essentially plug and play, right?

the os that runs the mcd should recognize the 8 outs once installed?

or am i wrong?

any input is appreciated.

o, and i did search. could only find inquiries about installing the 8 outs from s2000 in the 2kxl.

Be careful!!!!! Make sure you insert the ribbon cable correctly onto the motherboard or you'll burn up the MPC's resistor R1. I learned the hard way and paid $170 later to fix it. Not all of the ribbon cables on the 8-outs have a notch in the connector to make it dummy proof.

so your saying you connected the ribbon cable upside down and burnt out a resistor?

was the mpc plugged in?

im not much of an electrician but i just wanna make sure i understand what your saying.

My 8-outs was modified from an s2000. The ribbon cable connector didn't have a notch on it to tell which way to connect it onto the MPC2KXL motherboard. After I installed the 8-outs, powered up the MPC, got some smoke and burnt up the R1 resistor and the pad sheet. Come to find out the ribbon cable for the 8-outs was inserted the wrong way.
I had to send my MPC off to Virtual Sounds Technology (VST) in Cali to get it fixed for $170. Costly mistake!

Anyone know the rating of R1? mines discolored so hard to tell but the main out resistors / fuses are 100K.

Is it 47K?
