Is the MPC2000XL Worth using in this new breed of Rap?

Pretty classic predicament. I started on software and went to the 2kXL. Sold it, got logic, then bought another XL a few months later. I like working in both domains, personally. You'll always have some amount of money that you think you can invest into equipment that you "think" is going to revolutionize your sound. i wouldn't invest in a 1000, because eventually you're going to want to swap it for something like a 2500 or 4000. 4000's have hit rock bottom prices as i've seen of late. You could get one for $800 if you're patient. Fully loaded, adat, 8 o's, the whole nine. Id consider other pieces of equipment in your studio as well. Do you have some quality monitors? Do you have a nice set of keys? Do you need some? The way I acquire equipment is by constantly watching local ads, and keeping an eye out for deals on a wide variety of gear that i've been looking to get for some time. I would never ante up $500 for a Triton rack, but I grabbed one for $100 when i wasn't looking for one. I got a 88 key, hammer action weighted keyboard for $200. Was like 1,200 new. Picked up dozens of 2kXl's at low prices. Point is, if you have cash on hand, you can acquire dirt cheep gear, but it requires the discipline of not going out and blowing a grand on the brand new shit every time you have some dough in your pocket.

But i think the 2000xl is well worth buying, don't matter what type of music you're producing, u can't get the exact sound an swing from any other piece of hardware or software that replicates the sound and swing of the 2000xl, i got mine for £260 from cashconverters, Harlesden London can't believe anyone would sell a 2000xl to them but i found it, an i wouldn't trade it for nothing i love this machine, long live the XL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

for the record...kanye does a lot of them beats on the ASR-10
