New to mpc forum, broken ram slot

Hey there amigos,

I bought an mpc 1000 off fleabay, unfortunately its previous owner was a dick and the mpc is dysfunctional.

The biggest problem with the unit and what the previous owner failed too mention was the ram connection slot is snapped. The hinges where it should "click" into place are gone, leaving only 2 metal wires either side.

Any Ideas as too what part this is , and would it be worth me fixing?

If there is no solution too this miserable problem, as A complete noob too the mpc will I be greatly affected by not being able to use on board ram?

Yes thats the one , legend.

What do you think I should do? I have never tried too do this before, I am not scared of trying just kinda in the dark as too what materials and equipment I will need to carry out that type of soldering. It seems too have lots of tiny pins touching the main board.

Does anyone know which are good replacements for the cursor key switches , I dont want to put the same crappy ones back in , if you get me

email mpc stuff to find out how to install that slot...

also, you can change the plastic cursor buttons if you like... you can also replace the tact switches under them..

Which tact switches should I use? I'm pretty gutted I cant use the mpc right now because the right arrow key is completely dead.

I did try searching the forum I brought up a thing about deoxit, might try that first, seems hard to get in the uk for cheap though. Are there any other brands people may have tried here with success?

well you can try contact cleaner spray for that...

but you will likely need to replace the tact switches at some point.
