mpc and sp 303 question

basically i've been using the 303 for just effects and resampling, but it throws my creative flow when i resample and then keep having to re-adjust the start/end points

so say i have a drum loop on my mpc and i wanna run it through some reverb on the sp 303 and resample onto a sp303 pad....and if i like the way it sounds, sample it back onto the mpc. is there way that i can record the sample back in without having to adjust the start/end points every single time?

is there an option where BOTH machines will only record once audio is picked up, so you won't have to go in and set start/end points?

Yes both can do this. Don't have the 303 manual in front of me but have read it and got my 303 to do what you're asking.

just set the threshold on both machines. will only record in audio signal is picked up.

i believe on the 303 its by holding "press + rec" at the same time, then use one of the knobs to set the threshold level

well...what about the end points? say i have a drum loop on the sp 303, with loop mode turned OFF.

when i record that sequence on the mpc, will the mpc automatically stop recording when the loop stops playing on the sp 303?

because if there's no option like this, i'd still have to go in and adjust the end point...

not if you forget about making the sample loop, and instead trigger the sample with the sequencer set at the correct tempo.

not really sure what you are trying to do but using the sequencer is almost always a good idea.

Just get good with hitting record at the right time so you don't have to truncate your loops. Only really takes 10 seconds or so to trim up a bit off the end. Maybe coming from making whole songs off the 303 to the MPC I don't see the hassle in a little clean up work. You could also export you loops then transfer them over to the MPC, always an option.
