I personally don't like them, but I'm not throwing a fit about it(mainly because I don't plan on buying one for a while). One of the major draws for me to the MPC in the first place was to move away from a computer screen. I can look at an MPC screen for hours and not feel any discomfort at all....same cannot be said about a computer screen. I feel that these pads would contribute to headaches/discomfort for me like a computer screen would. But, my case is rare, because my whole point to this paragraph is because I am prone to epileptic seizures and heavy migraines. Most people aren't, they just like to **** about anything different. I'm sure MPCstuff will come out with pads for it too, and since the stock pads are translucent, a solid color pad should take care of the light up "issue" I would think.

Dude, I don't think the lights are gonna flash enough to trip a seizure! :roll: Might as well be worried about riding down any given street during Christmas time!

peeps defo take personal offence im sure the fact that the older mpc's are built like tanks and look like serious units has a lot to do with peeps disdain for lighting up pads.

a u seen from monstas post peeps asscociate lighting pads with kids toys so peeps feel silly using it.

like alot of the heat beat thang took was down to the flashing lights

but im shure the likes of mpc stuff will come out with replacement pads in plain colours bhut at least akai kept the lights on the pad edges so its a bit subtler and still provides the functional indicators as intended.

No, the Beat Thang shouldn't even be placed in the same sentence with Ren, nor Maschine in regards to lights. That thing is just so over the **** top and over done it doesn't make sense. :lol: Trust me, when dudes see how useful the pad lights are, they are gonna welcome them with open arms, and won't even notice they are there. Maschine has fully lit pads and it's highly bearable and helpful at knowing what sounds are being used in your sequence. The Ren's light are much more subtle and serve basically the same purpose. If it weren't pad lights, dudes would find something else to complain about!

But you're right, I think the Beat Thang has associated corniness with lights! :lol:

I think the only thing about the lights for me was the choice of colour ( not too cool with the yellow and red get up ). I would of liked to have seen just a whitelight or blueish light option for all pads ... But, getting bent out of shape about this aspect of the unit is just plain ridiculous ! The lights will have pratical uses for those that need them. 8)

Agreed, a nice white would be nice. I don't really care about being able to see my note velocity reflected in pad light color. I think on screen display is enough! But like you said, it's not enough to boycott the thing! :lol:

man some of those christmas light set-ups are no joke. got them flashing more than a street light. i'd hate to have their electricity bill at the end of december :lol:

You should see this one guy in my neighborhood. Shit all over the yard. Looks nice, but it's A LOT to set up and take down every year! Looks like the Santa Clauses factory or some shit. But there have been no reports of seizing passers-by! :lol: :lol: :lol:

I like the dudes that hook up midi and light shows and got a whole show going on, it's great, I've only ever seen one in real life, it was decent but many others ones on youtube are crazy with it.
