REN MADNESS !

Funnily enough, I had a guy emailing me on and off over the last couple of months wanting to buy my 1K. After a lot of banter, he finally offered £500 for my personalised all black MPC. I said I'd think about it and left it there.

Now five hundred sterling is currently $783.00 US ... But I didn't sell - I have a love for my little 1k and here it shall remain. I've toyed with selling it a few times, but when it comes right down to it, I come over all nostalgic and can't bare the thought of all my hard custom work going to someone else .... This is unhealthy, isn't it ?!


Still, I guess you can understand why some are very excited about these new units and being already very familar with the Akai workflow via their MPCs, these new units shouldn't require too much adjustment, unlike that required if using NI's gear.

I have stated from the outset that I will wait for between 14 - 18 months to see how these units pan out in real-world application. If after that time they offer me something better than I already have, I'll buy whichever unit suits me best at that time. Why the odd one or two arses on here have labled me as some kind of 'Controller hater', I have no idea, but I would strongly suggest that they bother to actually read what I've written about the units.

Same thing is happening with everything now. Ipad 3 rumored to be released in March, and the Ipad 1 and 2 are all over Craigslist. Nikon D800 camera is announced, and the D300/300s/D700 are listed everywhere. These companies are asking too much for new gear, but I plan on getting what I need used. I love gear-heads..they save me a lot of money! For some reason they need to be the first to buy the latest and greatest, and a few weeks later when their rent/car payment is due, they sell what they just purchased! Gotta love em!

True... One would think that making sure your finances are in order before you go buying new gear willy nilly would be common sense, but not so much...

to add to that ^ .. on our local craigslist somebody was trying to sell the beat wang for 700 bucks lmao!!!

But back to topic, I got my eyes peeled for a 60II . My last conquest in MPC ownership . Hopefully I can be thankful to the Ren's 60 mode for a nice acquisition .

Lesson learned one doesn't have to sell classic gear to get new gear you will soon regret it.

Another lesson it is always best to master what you have before you buy new gear cuz if you don't know what you are doing with what you have buying new gear isn't going to make a difference.

And lastly top of the line yesterday's gear is just as good today when you buy it off a newbie that never had a clue what to do with it.

Ya mon, Heres how ya hide em...Get a cheap travel case...you know, one of them joints that are made of plastic covered cardboard, and keep one inside of it, on its side next to your records, on the shelf, hidden in plain sight ...The 2nd one you can hide INSIDE one of them special made lp record storage boxes, I think they cost like $10 o yeh, put some records you dont need inside with it, so the joint dont move around...The third, youre gunna hafta buy one thats exactly like the main one you use, and keep it inside your nice stainlees steel flight case, so when you need to work with some dudes, you can just grab your case and go...Pure Genius...YCTML (youcanthankmelater)
