Help! MPC2000XL will not power up!

Has anyone else had a problem with the MPC2000XL not powering up. If so, how did you fix it? Does anyone have a clue how or where I could get it fixed?

I never had this problem with my MPC2000XLSE2 (the chrome special edition version) so I am completely at a loss. Help!

I tried a different power cable with no luck. I don't know how to replace the power supply unit itself.

Whens the last time it was on...Did it short ...Over heat...Or jus not turn on 1day

Today when I pushed the power button, nothing happened. No problems before.

Try a different outlet, if that fails, it's probably a fuse.

did u open it up? u have to put ALL the screws back in their proper places or you might short the ground screws. that has happened to me before. I re-opened it and put the screws back in the proper places and everything was fine, luckily.

that was on a 2k classic though.

Of course I tried multiple outlets, all with no luck. I don't see any user accessible fuses on this unit. I did open it up earlier this evening and it was a simple matter to put all the screws back in the correct places since they are of different lengths. Plus I separated them by location as I took them out and put them in labelled baggies just to be safe. I'm pretty thorough with this sort of thing.

in most expensive electronics a fuse is placed on the hot leg of the power input directly before or after the on/off button in the circuit. I have never opened up the xl, but would suggest looking closer at the power supply unit.

You might need to do some soldering on the circuit board that the power plug is connected to. I bought mines second hand and every now and then it would shut off in mid-work. I changed chords and nothing happened. I opened it up and noticed that all the connections on the board weren't soldered good. Went to Home Depot, bought a soldering iron ($15 w/solder) and made sure all the pins were covered on the board. Never had the problem again. Look on the board to see if there are any holes that are not completely soldered.
