well I think it boils down to comparing the (in this case the ren) machine with other gear.. right? meaning your actual judgement would be the difference between both machines coming from the same environment.. obviously until one has the ren hooked up to their own rig, they wont know what it sounds like in their own rig.. because any recordings you hear will be of the machine running through their rig, and then through your rig when listening to the recording... right?

so my interest (or one of them actually) is hearing a real 3000, recorded in say.. some guy's apogee or motu, or what ever else... and through the same exact rig, hearing the 3000 emulation from the ren.. obviously using the same exact samples.. I know at my place it would sound different, because I would be cutting his rig out of the recording.. but none the less.

Assert the opposite of a statement made by (someone). first you say , cant hear it with youtube ,, only with bandcamp ... and you say you keep telling me that .. then i provide you with three links . one from youtube and two from soundcloud .. then you turn around and say man you cant really hear the sound only when your in front of it lol ahaahahahahaha .. then you turn around and sneak in by sayin we all wana hear how it sounds ahahah ..man every one in here has a some kind of a studio and some what of a good ear .. so who u foolin man ?? AND YOU TELLING ME I CAN ONLY HEAR THE TRUE SOUND ONLY WHEN IN IN FRONT OF IT ..SMH .. WHATS THE POINT OF I TUNES SOUNDCLOUD BAND CAMP .. YOU MITE AS WELL SAY DONT LISTEN MY LP CUZZ YOU WONT TRULY HEAR WHAT I SOUND LIKE UNLESS YOUR IN FRONT OF ME .. its 2012 the whole point is to have good sound comin over the net .. and if you cant hear the difference in audio via over the net or live or in a car ect .. thats your prob .. not mines ..

Key word TRULY! And I didn't sneak nothing in. I've said it from the beginning. And you clearly know absolutely nothing about audio. The only way to hear what ANY piece of equipment TRULY sounds like, you need to have the piece of gear in front of you with speakers connect directly to it. Anything else you play it through is not gonna have the true sound, but it will have the "color", or **** of what ever you're listening through. I have 1000's of samples from SP1200's and MPC 60's and when they are coming out of my any if my MPC's, they do not have the true sound of those drum machines. I don't care what you say.

Did you just say iTunes? You know what quality iTunes sells music at? 256 mbps mp3, and that's only over the last couple of years. It used to be 128. The purpose of sound cloud and bandcamp is to get a sound as best as possible to the original. But you know as well as I do that any SP1200 beats you find posted online do not sound the same as sitting in front of a physical SP1200 in your studio. If you really believe that you got a lot to learn! It's the basic principles of analog vs digital. Music always sounds the best, and most true, in the studio!
ilet me be the judge on how true it sounds ..every ones ears and taste are different ,, i wana know if they bit convert is real or hype .. i want to see/ hear dan or who ever up load a some wav to soundcloud or just show us/me on you tube yes i said youtube .. because i didn't hear nor see what it did at nam .. how convent
of them .. did you ?? i mean they had a chance to @ namm didn't they .. oh but wait .. its not done .. so what now .. we have to buy it and seee up close for of self .. lol how smart of them .. ahahahaha well djhellfire .. you have your on pre order right aka payed beta tester .. you pay them 1300 to test it .. and let me know ok buddy .. tell me good it sounds up close ...

first of all .. the ni maschine sucks 2 .. i have one .. i only used it 5 times .. and realized that ..i was wrong . i got the ni maschine . for the work flow and the convenience .. i think ik spelled that right lol .. any ways ,, like i said iwas wrong .. its all about the sound that raw sound . and u cant compare the ni maschine cuzz it does not have a sound card like the mpc ren .. and thats why im giving mpc r such a hard time .. and i take that back the ni maschine does not suck .. it just lacks in that dirty sond im looking for .. and they tryed to fix that with the bit rate fx , im not felling that .. the ni maschine is good for music like glich hop live style of play ect .. and i mite get back to using it ..

well when it comes to quality effects, quality converters, quality preamps, quality EQs, quality interfaces, etc... quite often you get what you pay for... honestly, look at any high end EQ (hardware) or quality preamp... the price for that alone is higher than the maschine.. right? you know you wont be getting that sound from one of these products.

but that is a whole other can of worms.. I personally wouldn't buy a product that takes me using it only 5 times to determine that it isn't for me.. I find that out before dropping a cent on the piece of gear.

point is, find that essential piece of gear that is vital to your sound and workflow... make bangers, and dont get caught up in the hype or gear lust or any of that other stuff that side tracks you from getting the job done.

stay up.

Well, there are members of this forum that were at Namm and got to hear it and use it in person. You should have went.

Secondly, you don't have to buy it to hear it. You can easily go into a Guitar Center or Samash after they come out a play with one on display before you buy it. They always have MPC's set up. It's what I did with the 2500 before I bought one. Try again!

Third, I don't think beta testers get paid unless they work for Akai, which I do not. I'm just telling you facts that have nothing to do with Akai or MPC's. It's just the basic laws of audio. If that makes it seem like I'm a beta tester or employee, then you're even more delusional than I thought!

Don't get it twisted, I'm not defending Akai here. I'm defending facts!

Why do you care so much what it sounds like, and so much that Akai gives you what you want so you can make your money if you're not even willing to spend the $1300 on it? :?

And no, I didn't pre order mine yet! And I personally don't give a shit about all that 'MPC 3000 sound' bullshit they say it has, or whatever other vintage modes come with it like everyone seems to be obsessed with. I just want it to sound good and clean. **** the gimmicks!

i jumped the gun .. i like native instruments .. and i love traktor scratch .. and my maschine was only $200 so i ant trippin .. but you did give me an idea .. build me a comp .. have the sound card set to 16 bit .. and hook up my ni maschine to it . then run the audio to protools ..

MONSTA wrote:alll man .. how funny ..i just went on mr_debauch soundcloud ..looks like he did a test months ago ,,

yeah, and that test was done on another producer friend's computer that I set up for him (he had an old one, I turned it into a light weight music PC)

it was to show him what his machine was capable of without choking considering it's an older machine (p4) with a stock sound card... that test has actually nothing to do with sound really, since it was entirely created in the box on his machine and exported to a wav file... then I moved those files to my PC with a USB stick.. the only part where my gear comes into play is where I ran the SPDIF out from his PC to my motu so I could hear it and adjust the volume leveling be referring to my monitors in my mal-treated studio space..

No external sample sources were recorded on his machine, and his machine was not recorded to any external gear... therefore it being all digital, it doesn't have any sound characteristics that make any difference by listening to it on soundcloud (which streams at 128kbit mp3) The only thing that these tests prove is the fact the machine (his old ass PC) didn't choke, glitch out, or click due to buffer stuff. If you heard the result from testing out fl studio 10, you would see what I mean... long story short, that program got uninstalled and replaced by version 6.

Last but not least, those were uploaded to soundcloud because on my page, there is a demand for new material to be uploaded regularly... those songs will not be used on any of my projects... songs that are, I try not to upload because then they are no longer new to the people who might buy my albums.

What do I have to say? You don't know what else his beats were ran through. You don't know how it was mixed. You don't know how he filters or eq'd his instruments. You don't know what the original instruments he used originally sounded like before he touched them. You don't know if his files were uploaded as mp3 or wav, and what bit-rate and bit depth the files were. And you don't even know wtf he's testing. So what exactly do you hear a difference in?

If you're saying the MPC60 vs Reason, then of course there is a difference in sound and sound quality. The MPC 60 is 12 bit 40kHz, Reason is 24 bit and up to 48kHz. However, if he played that MPC60 back to you in person, it's gonna sound different that sound cloud because hasn't been converted to digital. That's the main point you aren't understanding. the analog to digital conversion alters the sound. Doesn't make sound terrible or bad, but there is nothing like the actual sound coming out of those analog outputs. It's the same thing with the Ren. Reason is different, it will sound basically the same as it does in the software because the sound is already digital.

As much as you would like this to be about you....it's not. I am talking strictly about these new products and nothing else. Everything else (from my avatar to my feelings about you) are not relevant to this conversation.

The subject we were talking about is the MPC Ren and how it is far behind Maschine. You claim to have inside information. So what does Maschine do specifically that makes the MPC Ren far behind it? I want to make an informed purchase so please share your knowedledge.

I do believe the whole "3000" shit is just a way for them to entice die hard hardware guys into embracing the software side. That's what I mean by gimmick; using that to attract a certain audience. They may very well have actually nailed that "sound." But me personally, I don't give a shit about that. That's not the part I'm buying into. I'm not giving them my $1300 in hopes that I'm walking out with an MPC 3000. I've been saying that since before you started coming around here. What exactly have you won or are trying to win here? YOU'RE THE ONE that cares sooooo much about this "sound"! Although I am curious to see what the hype is about the sound, I really could care less if it sounds like something out of 1994.

And yes, I bought a Maschine back in October. It's dope, and if I posted beats made with it, I bet you couldn't tell if it was made on Maschine or MPC! Bought a 1000 back in 2010, and sold it for Maschine. Bought a 2500 back in 2008, still have it. Bought an XL back in 2001, still have it!

Then why are you going on and on about incomplete gear!! The gear isn`t going to be released til 6 months from now. We are getting sneak preview of what is to come, not what is now!! You were the supposedly mpcrebel and you flip flop now you want to buy it but you will have to wait 6 months and they have a whole lot of work to do from now to that point in programming and adjusting the hardware prototypes.

Everyone understand it is a process from 1st prototype, to 2nd prototype, to the final prototype. And those of us already working with software besides the mpc understand the possibilities of the final products when they are complete.

One has to chill cuz this time we want to work with the developers and add input to the final products not chase them off to work behind closed doors.

Plus maschine or whatever can work in the right persons hands.
