On the Program screen (Shift + 6) tap the pad that has the sound to be filtered assigned to it. The display should change to reflect this sound's and pad's information. Hit PARAMS and navigate to the Freq and Res values with the arrow keys, where you can assign the depth of the filter and apply any ressonance if you choose to.

after you have done what dude just told you go to the slider and hit shift key now assign the slider to FILTER
and you can tweak your sample live or record these sweeps
