So I noticed on my mpc1k, free jjos (though the problem I would guess is not exclusive to jjos) that sometimes the screen will flicker a tiny bit. It's not constant, but it's not rare.

It's not enough to be annoying, but it's noticeable. It's just a tiny flicker that lasts a second, the brightness/contrast of the screen fluctuates a bit.

I can't seem to find any pattern to when it happens, it seems random.

Anyone else seen this/is it nothing to worry about?

Do you have the stock green screen or an aftermarket screen?
How old is the unit approximately?
How long do you keep the unit powered up for?

The life expectancy of these screens are quite well if taken care of properly. So I'm considering all these factors I've mentioned to determine what may be the cause. But also it could be as simple as the connection on the ribbon cable needing to be reseated. Have a look and see if that helps.

Stock green
I got it used about a year and a half ago. But in basically new condition, it's still got the plastic peel-off protector film that it was packaged with, so it couldn't be that old.
I keep it powered for an hour or two normally at a time, every few days.

I'll check the cables inside before I put my new custom side panels back on.

But like I said, it's not a big issue, just a small thing I noticed.

Use some of them skillz you've got and you'll have it sorted in no time.

Yeah I was reading that topic. Nice Skillz with them sides. I'm sure you'll have no problem with that ribbon cable at all. The display could just have a lot of mileage on it, which is just starting to show, if you don't find any loose connections. So if it's really the case, I'm sure it's not gonna be a problem unless it gets progressively worse over time. Other than that it's safe to say you probably got plenty of milage to go before it needs to be replaced. The good thing is that the colored displays have dropped in price quite a bit since i bought one of the first blue screens from needlework.com (before mpc-stuff had them).

I'm having the same issue. Should I look at the cable that is accessible directly after taking the cover off or should I unscrew the display and look at connection under it?

Are these blue displays just a common type? Could I get them cheaper somewhere else than mpcstuff?

Yeah I would start with that first. If it don't help. Remove the cover and you'll see the connection on the right side of the display. Remove the cable, examine the connectors and the cable and reattach them.

The blue displays are common. But you would have to do all sorts of modifications that even i wouldn't wanna bother with. You may be able to get the display cheaper than mpc-stuff if you call VST Service and talk to Nick.
