I plan on routing it the same way I route my maschine. I doubt I will fully use the internal audio card that is built in unless I REALLY like the sound of it. but either way. you don't need it to ever be analog audio unit either bounce down or just monitoring... as far as getting the 3000 sound. from what they are saying there will be internal loopback from those converters so it's a non issue.
so basically I will either have the ren running to my mixing console then out to the monitors or it will use my other audio interfaces (which already go to the mixing console then out to the monitors)
as far as having 3 drives.. I kinda dissagree unless your streaming from the HDD but normally your using ram.. so really I just use 2 drives one for apps and one for samples and recordings (except when in Logic using vocal intensive recordings I do use a third ) but smaller vocal recordings like sampling into ren or doing a quick vocal or instrument track a regular laptop would be fine, a laptop with a decent 7200rpm external drive would be perfect.
