question about looping...

hi
say if i got a 2 bar loop going on .. how can i 'copy' the loop so that it plays over 8 bars knowhatimean?
when i set it to 8 bars the last 6 are silent ... i know there must be a way of doing this so the original 2 bars are reapeated...
only had the mpc 2 weeks its taking a while to get to grips with but it still worth the money!!!.....

Not really sure where this setting you're making is.

Basically, the way to pull off loops on the MPC is to get a decent idea of the actual tempo of the sample in question, set up your sequence for that tempo, input a note on at Bar 1 Note 1 for the loop sample in step mode and repeat for every necessary iteration. (if it's a 2 bar loop and you need 8, set up a note on every other bar at bar 1, 3, 5, and 7)

Play with the tempo of the sequence and you should have yourself a working loop sequence. Build variations and play with using Note Off voice overlap (adjustable in the Params page of the Program screen)

I think what your lookin for is the copy event function in the Edit screen... the manual can explain it better than I can. Its page 82 in the MPC2000 manual... page 81 in the XL manual.

My bad... I was reffering to the pdf manuals.... in the actual manual its pg. 69 (XL) and pg. 70 (OG)

this is what youdo from the main screen hit edit f2 i think then f2 again bars then swt it up if you are copying from bar 1 to 2 set first bar 1 last bar 2 then it will ask after bar set this to 2 and it will ask copies if you want it to be 8 bars set this to 6 go to main screen and you have a 8 bar loop, it's also in the manual if it didn't explain good enuff

then copy pattern
but your problem lies here::
ARE YOU MAKING SURE THAT YOU TELL THE MPC YOU HAVE a 2 BAR PATTERN???
It will "think" or default to copying a 1 bar pattern unless you change the 1 to a 2 (in your case) or to whatever the length of the pattern you are copying is,,
Now Copy and you will fibnd that your pattern will have the needed length with no infformation missing!!!

You can also just keep your sequence as a 2 bar loop - Go into song mode and program that sequence to repeat 4 times. When you have that done use the "convert" option in Song mode and you will have what you need in a new sequence.
