I love when the original sample is flipped beyond recognition, but there are a couple of tracks that are too much based on external sounds for my taste.

thats where the voting comes in 8)

really wanted to do this, but wasn't super inspired by the sample source. Not something i would normally mess with so didn't want to force it. That said it was cool to hear all the differences in beats using the same source. Great job everyone, but there was definitely a few that were hard to choose one over the other.
Not sure how much of the source was used in the one I picked but just voted for the one that i wanted to listen to again.

Regarding the time limit, yes I agree many have ignored this and it's a bit unfair to the people who really worked hard to keep things under 2.00. As this is the first battle, I suggest we let it slide, in as much as those beats will still be allowed, but perhaps people should consider the time limit when making their voting choice.

But for battle 2, I think any beat exceeding the given time limit is definitely not going to make it to the voting stage.

I think it's not such a big issue anyway, since people are going to vote for the beat they like best, no matter if it was under or slightly over 2 minutes.

People should still obey the rules however...

I think you should let them in, but simply cut them at the 2 minute mark before uploading on soundcloud.

Even if it's just a few that go over 2 minutes- that would greatly increase the work involved when uploading them to soundcloud. I like Tutor's call- this round, let it pass. Future rounds, they just don't get uploaded.

I meant 8 or 9 entries... not numbers 8 or 9!

I think I have it down to 4 now. (entries, not the number!)

If I was an end listener I wouldn't give a shit, but as a participant it's a slightly different story. A few seconds over is one thing, but the best part of a minute takes the piss IMO!

I agree. Most people don't listen past 30 seconds anyway! Especially when there are so many beats! I personally like having the option to listen to a full beat if I like it. Most I don't like get skipped within the first 15 seconds anyway, depending on how terrible it is. However, since free sound cloud accounts limits your uploads to 120 minutes, people should stick to the limit at least as close as possible.

What if the portion after 2 minutes is the best part though? Eh? Eh?

That's bad luck then i guess, or you could say the listener who skipped too early is missing out. But it's true, i also skip to the next track within the first 10-20 seconds if it's not my "vibe" (however, i still jump through the whole beat usually, just to make sure i didn't miss the best part).

MAn i was really feeling 23 and 24 hard to choose between those 2, both had such an awesome swing. 22 was definitely fire. I also like 8 a lot but it was a little too quiet.

Well, that's why you have a volume control on your computer/speakers...

Even the ones you didn't like? I listened to them all as well, but admit i've skipped a few after the first 20 seconds.
