dave smith / roger linn - tempest analog drum machine

Back in October when I sold off some gear for a Mac Mini, Reason 6, and a new interface, I could've ended up with the Tempest instead and only having the x0xb0x to go with it. It was tempting. But I felt it was too limiting being only down to 2 pieces of analog gear, as opposed to all the possibilities I currently have now. But man, that Tempest alone really would've kept me busy long enough to be able to buy more analog gear. Man I'm having Deja Vu.

Awww, dude.

Yeah it was a bit of a struggle. But a friend of mine works for Propellerheads and had them send me a copy of Reason 6 for free. That turned out to be the deciding factor for me, as the PC I was running didn't have enough power for Reason 6. Also, we're working on a collaboration at some point in the future. So it was definitely essential to upgrade to a Mac. Good thing is I still have the x0xb0x. I'll never part with it. I built it 5 years ago (thanks to elmacaco who encouraged me to do so), and I'm proud of that. Somewhere down the line, the x0xb0x will have another playmate of the analog drum machine persuasion. Until then, I should start playing the New York State Lotto.

Cool, I forgot about those. I built the Andromeda Mk1, Mk2, and Mk4. Been meaning to do more with them. But I gotta have another look at that TR-808 clone you posted. Thanks.

Some good info in this thread for those that still want to discuss the Tempest. Bashing Roger Linn isn't necessary.
