hey, real easy and quick question, is the fx board and 8 output from the 2000 classic the same as in the 2000xl? im pretty sure it is but just checking.

Yes, both boards can be used in both machines.

yes.. but they suck so dont use those if you have the choice.. they are not reliable, they will eventually break down... and you will loose gigs and gigs of projects and samples. NOT worth it.
with the 2000xl (since that seems to be the model you own) you can install a CF reader (ide or atapi) for very very cheap. This is the best upgrade you can purchase for that machine.
Look in the 2000/2000xl section because there are many threads about it. I even wrote one talking about $1.50 card readers..
