Discuss the various methods you use in music production, from compressor settings to equipment type.

Do you sample lossy compressed formats like MP3, FLV/MP4 (YouTube)?

You are not alone! But to me, listening music from computer / ipod and listening from music directly coming from record player are two totally different things. I am not dissing digital audio form (I appreciate for what it is, and I know digital audio can sound good), I use both, but digital audio won't replace vinyls, at least to me.

I'd say yes, not because of MP3's sound quality, but that would've meant that Dilla stopped diggin' and started compromising.

Not necessarily.. In the end it will still be about what you do with those sounds.. As for the example above - To make different choices or to stop digging crates does not automatically mean anyone is compromising his music..

^^^ Exactly. To me that's not far off from saying it was really the records that made Dilla dope.

Ibunshi, I agree with that.
Mp3, sorry, but actually I think I misunderstood your question.

I read it instead:
(It) would have been wack if he switched on fruityloops sampling mp3s?

And I thought that the outcome would not be better.

I rewind it back, pause it, TV output to MPC input, then record .
But it requires digital TV, it's working very well.
