i want this but it's really expensive. me and a good mate were thinking about going halves on it. he's on a pc & i'm on a mac.

are you able to do this? use the same serial & do all the updates on 2 different machines & they wouldn't care?

over 1k for a bunch of software seems a bit much but $500 seems a lot more worth it

From their print material...

NI wrote:A maximum of three installations on three machines are allowed as long as only one installation is used at any given time. The individual products cannot be resold separately.

How would they even know if you were both using it at the same time? If you were NI would you rather make $1000 and 2 people benefit, or make no sale?

The Komplete bundle is well worth it either way.

I would guess they use a serial system that is specific to the installation and uninstallation of the software... combined with being specific to the computer. My guess is, you would beed to either connect to the net, or it creates a file which you transfer to another computer and send to them during installs or uninstalls etc..

who knows though.

Either way, you can get around that stuff which we wont talk about here.

it should work, I would isntall on one computer, wait a day or two and try to install on another...if it dont work....then call them or email and say that the computer you originally installed it on crashed and since you've aquired a new one but cant install the software for whatever reason

draconian.
i will never willingly purchase software that doesn't allow me to install/use it on any computer i'm currently using OR install it portably so i can run it out of dropbox.

At least there is no USB dangle needed... For the question above, usually it applies local area network (LAN) only, but don't quote me on this, because it might not be the case for NI Kontact.

Oh, so it comes with a USB dangle? (I hate dangle!) Then there is no way you can share...

There is no dongle for Komplete 8 Ultimate. The disk is a USB drive that contains the product and documentation. Authorization is via internet connection or offline using their app.

Correctamundo.

Installing their software on multiple computers is not a problem. I lend my Bro Maschine from time to time and he had zero issues installing it on his computer.
