Sampling problem - new on this world

Hi,

I am new on the forum and on the production world. I just bought a mpc and starting to playing around with it.

I found a song and wanted to sample the initial part, trying to loop the first 2 bars but I am not able to find a correct loop point.

Also how do you actually synchronize the loop in order to have the loop's beats synchronized to your tempo?
What software do you suggest in order to create loops?

To be more precise I was trying to sample this particular song:

As you can hear the first 7-8 seconds should be easy to sample and lop but I really can not do it. Then what is best? getting the first repetition, or the second? from second 8 to 15?

He sampled the same thing and it looks so neat, with the hi pitch piano notes sticking out. How can I achieve a similar result? He applied some filters?

I am not saying I want the same outcome, I'm totally new to this world. I just want to understand the principles and see where I do it wrong.

Maybe looping a melody is not a great idea for starting, but I liked it and I wanted to do something with it!

dude! Seriousley.,. 1. Most of ur questions have been asked AND answered hundredsss of times on these forums..
2. Most of the stuff you will have to figure out yourself.

Maybe.. don't bother loopong the damn thing.. chop it play with it.. come up with ur own ideas..

Also.. learn to count to four..

I had the same problems when chopping so i bought and read the very good and very cheap e-book from this site's sister site: mpc-samples.com

If you've not got enough money to buy it, look at the stickys at the top of the getting started and production techniques forums.

If you've just bought an MPC don't try and create loops in software. Learn how to do it in the MPC.

I didn't listen to the sample on your link there but it might help to try chopping the sample down into smaller sections then recreating that loop from your chops.

However what kind of software do you use for sampling/chopping on the PC?

I don't have one but the only thing I miss about having a PC is Sony Sound Forge. That would be my favorite audio editor around. Another bit of useful software for auditioning sounds and throwing samples into your audio editor or DAW is Audio Ease Snapper.

While it's useful to have an audio editor on your computer you're best of learning how to do it in the MPC - the more you practice, the quicker and easier it will come.

First rule of advice, do not drink the water here if you cherish your ass hole. Buy distilled water instead

Perfect loops is all about trimming your sample. Just because you chopped down the tree doesn't mean you're gonna have a cabinet and a table right away. You have to carve it out. Get to know the trim mode and experiment with the sample's start and end points. It takes a while to get it right but practice makes perfect. Thats the basics with any sampler or software.
