Beats in Pro Tools

i wanna setup the same type of workflow in pro tools that you'd have in Reason with NNXT. is there some sampler I need? i mean I want a very very simplistic type of work flow where I can just draw notes and use a midi keyboard to play drums, etc and make sure everything is quantized.

also, how would you go about having swing in pro tools? is it possible?

i record vocals in pro tools so I'd like to try making EVERYTHING in pro tools if possible. the workflow of an MPC is starting to annoy me

i dunno about pro tools... but it's sounding to me like you should be all over ableton live instead if that's the type of workflow you're looking for. you can easily record vocals into ableton as well... no need to stick to protools to be honest... that whole idea that it's the "industry standard" is a crock... having your song as separate tracks in WAV file format is the only industry standard and ableton can easily accomplish that as well.

sheeeit... even FL Studio can get the job done if you're just looking to draw notes and record audio in... i haven't used FL in a long time, but the piano roll is nice.

rewire reason into pro tools?

I'm a die hard Pro Tools user, and I can tell you that I personally don't like it's workflow for production. I don't really like the midi editor after using stuff like Reason and Maschine, although it's based on the same functionality. So I haven't really spent much time with it. Using Pro Tools as a sound module for the MPC is fantastic however.

Anyhow, if you're looking for a Pro Tools sampler that let's you trigger samples, look into Structure. I haven't paid much attention to it but I believe it does what you want. And there's also a bunch of other sample libraries available for it. And I believe Pro Tools comes with Structure Free.
