I wouldn't say difficult, just need time/practice to learn properly. Quite easy to get into in fact.

btw. I play most of the usual instruments people here play to some degree but the main unusual one is the Bodhran, an Irish frame drum. I have played it for over 30 years on and off.

studying Piano for about 9yrs now... work in progress.

and the japanese koto which is like a 13 string zither/harp type thing, and i've been thinking of taking up the keyboard as i'v been getting more and more into synths lately.

Koto is pretty cool sounding too, something within the lines of MidEastern Ghanoon.

I feel like I wanna own every single MidEastern, Central Asian, Chinese & Japanese instrument. Then western ones.

Would be a headache to maintain/store though. Pulled out the Tanbur the other day and found that 4-5 of its frets had automatically decided to snap

thats why i like brass instruments... you could boil them and theyd still work fine

besides my own yamaha student model (only 15 years old), i play on an old (borrowed) conn victor model, i liken it to an old cadillac (its HEAVY, and big, overengineered) EXCEPT that this one wont rust

kinda weird actually, i think it must be at least 30-35 years old, but the lacquer is still pretty fresh

Britain is the worst place for them.
Removing all bridges when not in use sounds like a pain.

Sweet. There's also a concert Santur that sounds as big as a piano, but with Santur texture. Thinking on how I can smuggle 1 to England. Though it's probably wiser to just rent a decent one in Tehran and sample the heck out of it.
