midi from logic into mpc60

hello,

I would like to use midi-sequences I created in logic on my mpc....

on the rogerlinndesign.com it says:
"Load standard PC-format MIDI file disks or save sequences as MIDI files. Move sequences between your MPC and PC or Mac sequencers.
Note: this requires that you download our Midi File Save utility, save it to an MPC60 floppy then boot your MPC60 from it."

My problem is, wether my mac nor my pc are able to read those DD / mpc60 disks.
what can I do?

Are you asking whether your mac or PC has the ability to read those files???
My question is have you attempted it, to see if it works?
Or are your asking how to save a midi file?

upps I realized that my question is not very clear...

i think you'd have better luck simply setting logic to output midi and recording it real-time into the mpc.

you'd have to do it track-by-track or at least channel-by-channel, but if you dont have a disk drive on your pc or mac, then that is really the only option right now.

a regular mac / pc disk drive should be able to read a dd disk fine. the other way around is not so nice - a dd drive doesn't work with hd disks perfectly.

while i prefer my mpc as master, if you try it you'll quickly realise that logic will ONLY run as a master (so i dont run my mpc 'synced' with logic).

but we are getting into a different scenario here than what you originally asked which didn't have anything to do with syncing.

think about / describe in more detail what you are trying to do. if you don't know, then get on the machines and try stuff out til you find something you like. there is no 'right' way to do it.

I already have some tracks done completely in logic, which I want to play now with my hardware synths. Your suggestion to record the midi date in real time from logic worked, but my problem here is that all the tracks for the different synths won't be in sync. so I assume I have to sync the mpc to logic.

ok so it would probably help to sync your mpc to logic then.

one option is to set logic to output midiclock. set the mpc to receive midiclock. now you should be able to record your sequences into the mpc using logics controls no problem.

another option is midi time code (mtc). i'm not as familiar with that, but you would set your mpc to receive and set logic to transmit, same as above but for mtc. then you set your mpc to the same tempo as logic. then you either hit play on logic and the mpc should start to, or probably better is you hold record and hit play on the mpc, and it will say 'waiting for time code'...i think. again that is something i rarely do but might work for you.

if you have good timing yourself, you can probably do it without sync by having the sequence loop in logic, and triggering your mpc to record on beat...you can quantize it afterwards.

bottom line - sync the mpc to logic and transfer your midi data that way, if you can't do it with a floppy disk.

is there midi tracks on the mpc60?


on my 2500 with jjos2xl i just exported region as midi file in logic, then dragged it onto my mpc via usb, and loaded it up onto a midi track in a sequence. if the mpc 60 has a midi track, im sure you could do something similar.
