KRK RP5 ROKIT G2 or Yamaha HS50M

I'm going to buy a pair of studio monitors soon but I can't decide which one I'd buy.
Heard KRK's have a muddy sound but Yamaha's are said to be too rough on the high frequencys, which is not good for my ears either.
I'm not a professional and I'm not going to release any albums or anything like that, but I still want my mixes to sound professional and nice everywhere you play them.
Any suggestions?

Edit: Oh yeah and it's important that the monitors are fun, because I like to have fun while making music and if the monitors sound annoying it's no good.
Especially because I got this thing with high freqs for example if I EQ snare, and try it and there's something strange in between the 3-5kHz (Can't really say) it HURTS my ear. Can't describe the feeling but it hurts in my right ear, sometimes it's snare, sometimes clap or hi hat. I know I might have **** up my ears because of listening music too loud with headphones, which really is a shame.

Go to your nearest shop and listen to them with a CD you know inside out. Make your own informed decision.

Reading back at the edited post, I have to disagree. Weren't the HS series supposed to be a modern replacement for the NS10?

If so, they'll be quite harsh sounding. The original NS10s aren't a pretty sounding monitor.

n4l, are those your only options? I always recommend the smaller Genelec series to people because I absolutely love them, but it means you'll have to save a little longer.

to be honest not sure if they're a modern replacement, but both hs50m and hs80m got good reviews

Yeh Kon, not a direct replacement. I know they couldn't do that because they couldn't source the correct pulp for the original white cones or something. More that they've tried to re-create the sonic character of the NS10 with the HS series.

In which case they might not be quite as useful to the guy, given his sensitivity to upper frequencies.

Yep, they're the best in the price range of 300 euros/pair and the 4-5'' Genelecs are like 700€ a pair(?), which is way out of my budget.

Since I got my rp6 se's my mixes and awarness for the smaller details of audio have gotten way better. Mind you I've never had monitors before, i'm happy with them though. They have good punch, mids are nice and highs are adjustable.

Nope my my room is not treated and never will be.

I guess it's just a personal preference, both monitors have mixed reviews but I think Yamahas are still more ''pro'' than KRK's.

The availability for HS50Ms in Finland are really bad I haven't found any shop here that sells them, only KRKs. I'd have to order them from Germany that's why I need to hear different opinions.

They're said to be.

I got HS50s - I now find they're practically unusable unless I've got my HS sub attached. In which case then they're great. You are just guessing what the low frequencies are doing otherwise. (And usually you guess wrong).

But saying that, its probably the same with other 5 inch monitors.

As for the NS10 thing. They've a switch on the back to give a bit of a lift around the 2KHz mark to make it NS10 like, but the bass roll off is very different indeed. Oh.. and the cones are white too
