yeah im going to be doing extensive traveling/relocating in the next year or two. i wanna get something thats ultra portable that i can record and produce beats with. I was thinking of maybe a laptop and a mpc1000. i dont really want to sell my 2000xl but well see. anyone have any suggestions to good laptops and usb/firewire sound cards

MPC1000,Macintosh Titanium G4, ProTools LE w/M-Box or Digi002Rack, little mic preamp StudioProject VT1 like, a good mic, a pair of headphone!!!

any daw software such as logic or cubase I dont recommend pro tools because it is geared more towards audio than audio and midi.

Native Instruments "Battery" plug in. this is like a virtual mpc only with more features. By using battery you save the money on the mpc and also the extra weight and hassle of connecting to the computer. $200

M-audio's oxygen 8 usb midi controller and any other usb m-audio interface. .the oxygen 8 gives you keys and knobs for hands on control and data entry to take the place of the pads on the mpc. $139


I have traveled with this setup and it all fits in a backpack. you can even carry it on the plane.

P-T LE goes by 128Midi channels... www.digidesign.com .
