Hey everyone, I had purchased a used MPC 2500, and was weary of buying used gear to begin with. The unit wound up being in suprisingly good condition, but after using it for a frew weeks I started noticing random sample pan changes every once in a while (already posted about this, but nobody had a sure idea of what the problem could be). This occurrs randomly, and if your listening back a sequence you created and suddenly in bar 2 the first beat, the hi hat sounds like it has another hat on top of it, but panned to either side, but when it loops and comes back to the 2nd bar, first beat, that hi hat now sounds normal, and you may never hear it again for a few days, but the next time it will be another random sample at another random moment in the sequence or song.
Anyhow, what I am experiencing now, is when I am in the load mode and choosing lets say a snare sample. I will usually just go through a bunch of snares and load a bunch into memory that I like for the project, but I go back and forth quickly between the 'play' button and the '+' button to quickly preview the snares in the chosen directory. What happens is, out of nowhere, it will suddenly go into USB mode, and my computer will start to read the MPC via USB. I know what your thinking, that the USB button is RIGHT next to the 'play/preview' button. This is what I thought was happening for weeks, and just subconsiously blammed it potentially clumsy fingers rapidly previewing samples. But it started occurring a bit more than usual within the past week or so. So I got into the habit of curling in all my fingers on my left hand except my pointer, and keeping it on the 'play' button and not moving it at all. Sure enough, after a few previewed samples in fast succession, there loads up the USB mode, and have to remove it from the PC, re-browse to the directory, and find the sample again. Its very much of a pain. With these combined issues with something I just spent 800 dollars on, I am thinking about taking it back to them for some type of repair. What do you guys think, do you have any suggestions?
