I've recently got a rme babyface and I'm wondering about connecting it
to the babyface. I know that my mpc has balanced ins and unbalanced outs.
So usually I would go from my mixer to the ins of the mpc. If I was to record a wav from my laptop thru the babyface I'm unsure what cable to use as the manual states:

Low impedance line outputs do not operate servo balanced! When connecting
Unbalanced equipment, make sure pin 3 of the xlr is not connected. A connection to ground will cause a decreased THD

Can anyone explain this

Also as the outs of the mpc are unbalanced will this create an issue connecting it to balanced inputs of the babyface breakout cable? I mean should I be lookin for balanced or unbalanced 1/4 to xlr.

Just grab an some xlr's -> 1/4 cables and plug up. It won't be a problem.

You'll be fine, you are over thinking it..
that balanced/unbalanced thing stumps many peeps at the beginning stages.
