Whats the word on the EA 1? Big subby bass? I know it has no envelop gens, but what else is right or wrong with it?

had one and sold it. the worst peice of gear ive ever owned. Not only did it sound like shit. It crapped out on me at the worst times. live radio spots and club performances. youd be better off with an old pawn shop casio.

Why do you guys think it performs so badly? Whats the deal?
I have read some reviews on harmony-central and some people say it does the VA thing quite well.

never trust harmony central reviews, or sonic state ones, most people just justify their purchase.

Depends what u want to do....i got one of the new es1 mk2
Fun to use and different way of thinkin than mpc. With audio in and 9 parts you can do some cool stuff. I dont know about the other guys but mine is built like a tank and no probs at all. You can do songs on it but sequencer is nothin compared to mpc. But cool little unit for different ideas.

The ES-1 is good, but if you pay attention you'll see that he's talking about the EA-1, which is the worst electribe ever.
Magazines are better, you can read them, but it is better to find out what's wrong with a piece of gear and see if it matters to you than to just hope the promises are true.

Have used the EA-1 on a number of projects over the past few years and overall, I'd say it's pretty good. Not sure about big booming bass lines, but I suppose it depends what you're using it for. I found it worked quite well for lead lines - esp within the Electro/Nu Skool Breaks genre.
I've gigged it quite a few times and have never had any problems with it. Pretty reliable IMO.

One of my tracks was played at a local club and the only synth in it was a EA 1

Maybe go to www.studio-central.com and go to the forums.
Tweak the admin does reviews and he is reliable.....and on the forum there is a review section. Most of the users are legit, and arent ignant

Bought one a few years ago when I was itching for a toy or two, and that is exactly what I got - a toy. I don't think any serious bass enthusiast or TB wanabee would consider that this had much in the way of goodness to offer. Put it this way - it might impress a pre-set newbie, but not much else. sound wise it is thin, no substance, the filters are feeble and there is no real control of the oscillators.
even it's one saving grace - step sequencer which can be used to control other midi gear - is a **** to use. and as for the filter for use on external audio - forget it.
A weak product - i just sold mine for a hundred quid, so some people are still after them...
