Should the renaissance be my first mpc?

to the OP... no one can honestly answer your question yet, because the renaissance isn't even out yet... anything anyone can tell you right now is going to be 100% based on speculation. plain and simple.

Personally, I'd save for the Ren. Especially since you have Maschine to tide you over.

I completely forgot to factor in that the OP had Maschine already. My bad.

That said, wait until the Ren drops and the early adopters beta test the actual product. I would also wait until the next update from NI before ditching Maschine for Akai's latest experiment. Version 1.0 is never without major drawbacks or bugs on any product.

If you have your heart set on an MPC...I can wait until Summer/Fall then I suggest waiting and picking up the MPC Ren or Studio.

If you can't wait, then I would suggest looking for a second-hand MPC 2500 or buying a new MPC 1000.

if u wanna spend $1299 on a (not stand alone) controller. cause that's what this mpc renaissance is turning out to be. i'm sure the effects and what it's compatible with will be good, but dunno if it's worth $1299 for a controller. i'd get it for the 30days that the store let's you hold it for with an option to return for full refund, but other than that i wouldn't bank on keeping it. mpc 2500 is the wave. get one before they turn vintage.

Op: The Ren is going to be my first MPC. I've been using Ableton for about 4 years now and I can't wait to have a solid hardware interface for it to complement my APC40. I'd totally suggest doing what I'm doing. Save up and go for it.
