no pad sounds direcly after tapping

hi i dont hear pads as i tap them, only after i record them, could anyone help me- i must add im a tottal begginer...

Hit the FULL LEVEL button.

If that doesn't work, go into PROGRAM Mode and tweak the volume of every pad.

Let me know.

You said you're a beginner so don't be offended but: Did you assign a sample to that pad?
I just bought an MPC500 today. I started off using samplers (MPC200XL & Ensoniq ASR-X Pro) but it's been years since I've used one so I have to relearn it all over again myself.
First problem I ran into was that only a few pads played any sounds when I hit them.
I quickly fixed that problem by: Mode > Load > (Hit whatever pad you want to assign a sound to) > use the cursor "D-Pad" to move your cursor over to the sound it says "should" be there on the screen > turn the data wheel to select a sound.

Was that it or is it something else?
