how do you guys get quickly to the Track List or to the Sequence List window, i.e. without having to use the cursor buttons all of the time to highlight those fields and then press window?

The Program and Sample List windows are pretty easy to get to: Either MODE + Program or Trim, and then window.

mute and Next Seq buttons. Mute is like a track view isnt it. Next Seq button gives sequence list, so i do it that way for quickness

nope that does not work. You can't get to the Sequence List (the window where you can delete/copy/.. sequences) from the NEXT SEQ window. Same thing applies for the Track List window, you can't get to it from the TRACK MUTE window.

---

One solution would be to implement:
In main view press shift ... keys F1 or F2 can be used for shortcuts to the Track/Sequence List windows.

o i see you want the list sorry. Well that suggestion is pretty much the same amount of button pushing, I dont find it a bother having to do what I do to open these lists. so its kinda helpful but not what i would consider a high priority in my list of must have features 8)

Quite often I have to jump back and forth between these List windows, and the amount of cursor clicking is too much for me.

I think the Shift + F1 and F2 shortcut should be very easy to implement.

not everything in the JJ OS needs a shortcut!

i personally think he might have crammed too many shortcuts in there at this point. there is a potential problem with the OS getting slowed down by puting all of these shortcuts in there, as the OS needs to be constantly 'listening' for them to occur. a button press is no longer a simple button press, but could cause the OS to do different things depending on what other keys are pressed with it. so the OS needs to have all of those options in memory and must perform extra calculations to decide which one to execute.

it is already a documented fact that OS 2XL has a noticibly heavier cpu load than OS 2. we are really at the limit of what the MPC can do with the sequencer running.

you proposed SHIFT + F1 / F2 for these shortcuts on the MAIN screen. that is the JJ OS equivalent of beachfront property!
the MAIN screen is packed as it is. what little space remains is best used for things that need to be accessed quickly in a live situation.
the screens you mention have absolutely no use live. when you are at home authoring a beat, super quick access is less important than when you are on stage in front of a crowd.

the features you want to get to are already easily accessible. no more than a few key presses away (MAIN -> cursor over SEQ -> hit WINDOW key). i think JJ has already made them super easy to get to. if you feel so strongly about it, do what Nym has done and make your own macros using the MIDI to BUTTON feature. pretty much anything you want the MPC to do can be accomplished with one press if you make a macro for it.

nice way to put it.

---

Another way it could be implemented: In NEXT SEQ window if you press the window key nothing happens, so that could be used to pop up the Sequence List window. In the TRACK MUTE the F5 key is free.

Somebody already proposed that JJ compile 2 different versions of the same OS build, where one would have some features and lack others and the other version the other way around. So maybe two versions, a live and a home version would be the solution.

again, those are both pages that are optimized for on the fly changes while playing live. all key commands/shortcuts put there should work in that manner and suit that purpose. i really think a macro would be your best bet.

nice for us users but i highly doubt JJ would be willing to do that. twice the work. twice the support issues. twice the bugfixing.
