Yo, from all the research i've done, the only differences that i can find between the two is that the 2500 has more outs, 2knobs, grid edit, flip screen, and the autochop can analyze waves. This is of course, when the 1000 has the updated JJOS.

Can anyone tell me why I would want to get the 2500 instead of the 1000. The only features that I mentioned above that I would like is the grid edit and the autochop.

I'm still not sure if the JJOS allows the analyzing of waves on the 1000.

I won't need the DVD drive since the guy selling maybe doesn't have one except HDD, midi outs I don't think I need. I'm more a hobbyist so not sure what I use the balanced outputs for?

balanced outputs allow you to use balanced cables (which have three parts to the cable instead of two) which can be longer without being affected by noise - you probably don't need to use or care about them

^I guess it could be useful later but I doubt I need it, someone is selling a 2500 for £450 maxed with HDD no JJOS though:(

Good deal, also you're from the UK anychance I can pester you for advice:)

it may not be very good advice, and I stop reading this forum now and then, so you're probably better off just posting on the forum, where lots of people can read it and there's a higher chance that someone who knows the answer will reply. If I see it and know the answer I might reply, but if I don't someone else still might help.

i paid 600ish quid for mine, in tokyo, used, no dvd, hdd or jjos,.... so yeah decent price. even if you have to replace the pads for some reason, after cost you still got a decent price.

the ergonomics are completely different,.... a 1k feels cramped, but if you've never used anything other than a 1k then it wont really bother you,... but the 2500 feels right, there's space to move and it feels comfortable.

i think that's the biggest difference, and apart from being just a bit bigger, its not that much of a pain to lug around so i'd call it fairly mobile too. i'd rather lug around my 2500 than have a spare 1k and have to use that.

happy shopping

i would say if you dont need the extra outs or dvd drive of the 2500, i would go with the 1k.

get some fat pads, or even aftermarket colored pads at mpcstuff.com either way you go, they feel WAY better than the stock pads.

At that price I would buy it.....both solid ..the 250 has a little more...and if that little more is stuff you want then pull trigger....your neck will thank you for the tilt screen...and for live drumming and shows the bigger pads surface area is top notch...for a hobbyist at that price its a win/win

After extensive research I went with the 2500 over the 1k.

Just ordered one for £700 (new) from HTFR last night, free postage within UK, although I have not got mine yet. £900 is still a good price though, considering it's typically £1000 new from any other location.

I recommend you DO NOT buy the official akai ram/cd drive unless you absolutely have money to burn, you can do the exact same upgrades using 3rd party computers parts that work just as well. See my post history and search the forums for more info: http://mpc-forums.com/search.php?author ... 3&sr=posts

I got the appropriate dvd/cd-rw drive and the appropriate ram for £19 total incl. postage. You must get the 256 memory to get the full 128 though, make sure you read the support threads if you decide on that route.
