The guy mentioned that you can have pads assigned to 3000 or not 3000 and thats still meantioned

Guess time will tell...

It would mean all rendering would have to be done in real time which also includes any VSTs your running in your Daw/Ren through your emulated MPC60/3000 sound. No off-line rendering. As your main sound card I totally get how the Ren can hardware emulate the 3000 and 60 in real time. But, it doesnt explain how you render that actual sound of the emulated 3000 converter. The only possible way to do that is send everything back to the Rens inputs as you suggest, and then back to the Daw in real time. Bit of a carry on though.

If it were software based that would be a different matter. Then the question is does it really sound like the original hardware machines. Hmmmm

Doh, I just realised your the same poster in the 2500 thread. Which machine do you use now? Ren would certainly put to rest all your midi clock issues.

I think some of you are getting off topic from the original post, what this thread is really about. If you think about this its a problem for everyone, not just for people with hardware, and shit like that, but for everyone who wants a Ren. Im getting frustrated because all you guys are saying is jibberish, not really understanding or giving good answers. If your buying the Ren, its a waste, because you wont be using the rens outputs, and thats wack because I want the Ren. THIS IS A PROBLEM, AND IF YOU GUYS REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT, AND THOUGHT ABOUT IT SOME MORE, YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND WHAT IM SAYING, AND TRY TO HELP GET SOME ANSWERS FROM THE AKAI GUYS. If you use your studio for recording artist, you won't be using the rens soundcard, and if you have outboard gear, you won't be using the rens soundcard, and isint that what you want the rens soundcard. It probably goes even further than that, but thats all I can think of right now. Get focused bitches.

I'm using Structure at the moment for loops and BPM for drums, would chop loops up in PT and then drag and drop to Structure. I do not feel at ease with the workflow.

Once you chop thats it, you have to go back to the loop and then reload and start messing around, it just kills creativity...

Unless I get a MPC that syncs with PT properly im really stuck with what I have right now. Only thing that would make sense is a 4000 with SyncGen providing the Position Pointer stuff works - or I stick it out and get MPC REN but not looking forward to BUGGY software, it will be buggy without a doubt.

I heard in some video that you can do a resample using the 3000 outs to add to the confusion

What is the point youre trying to make ? Until AKAI gives us a full break down of what is possible we will be going in circles with this. How can you find a solution to a problem for which we do not understand the environment for. Too many variables.... Don't let it bug you out. Lets focus and work with what we have.

LIKE I SAID I JUST HOOKED UP 2 SOUND CARDS .. and that was the best thing i have done .. now i dont have to unhook anything and now i wont get feed back ... so i think that was smart of then 2 add a sound card ..

Oh excuse me dear leader for not stating things as exactly as prescribed on page 487, paragraph 16, section 2 of the communist manual - Citizens Shall Not Deviate From The Thought Process Of Ceasl

Read my posts. They have been exactly on point - Routing!. I will bet you when the machine is released and you cross reference what Im saying in those posts above you will see Im pretty much on target. Basic routing as in where are you going to plug tghe thing in is easy stuff. Think of the bigger picture.

Is there going to be a bit of a Gotcha with how we use the built in card/emulation?

(Ie how does it render. It will have to be in real time or it cant do it. Or its not hardware based emulation, its software.

If on PC you cannot use two sound cards at the same time. Only with Apples Aggregate system can this be done and how successfully that works I dont know.

Hwo can I get the emulated sound if I also need to use my current card with its multiple ins and outs if I need to use the Ren in VST mode (ie with my Daw) as I an dmost others will definitely want to. Switching between cards all the time, rendering bits here and there? What a carry on that would be

The whole point of the soundcard is the hardware emulation, is it not?

If you say not, then why does it have the same converter as the 3000 range, and why make a big deal of the 3000/60 hardware emulation?

And who really wants that as their main audio card for all their in and out needs. Sure the 3000 range sound good on an MPC and sampler, but you really want a very coloured sound as the front end to your Daw system?

Cant run it in rewire mode. Only one sound card can be used. The host Daw controls that. Can Ren be master. Is that what you want anyway?

Send the Ren midi clock from your Daw. Maybe. This is about the only way I can think where I can use two sound cards and treat the Ren as a piece of hardware.

ALl those points do go along with routing, especially if you still need to use your current card and use the Ren as a VST plugin as Im sure many will.

And why no ADAT? That could have been quite the problem solver. In fact if quite the fail it doesnt have this. Loads of cards have ADAT inputs.

For you Monsta, I presume your using an Apple Mac Aggregate system. Not everyone is using one of those. I have an Imac but I use PC for my music. I cannot use two sound cards simultaneously in a PC.

Yeah structure isnt the best for this type of thing. SPS will work with the Sync Gen but probably send innerclock an email just to confirm there are no Gotchas. I havent been to my studio for a few days so I cant check this for you. In fact I wont be there for about a week. But I can check for you when I do get there.

If you havent used a hardware MPC before the Ren might be a good choice for you. There will be bugs, but Im confident they will be minimal. AKai have a lot banking on this machine me thinks. They have been working on the software for a couple of years.

(Sshhh, we mustnt talk about this, our dear leader will get upset. We are deviating from allowed thought processes)

labcoats no worries my friend, I just didn't want people going off topic in that particular thread, I had a serious question that I wanted answered. But uhh read what Dan sent me via PM.

Yes that's correct. You need to treat the Ren as a hardware device or a master interface. If you have a 8 in 8 out soundcard give the Ren 2 of the inputs but the sound files are still running inside the software so if your using the internal bouncing system you wouldn't need to track the parts down.

I kinda understand what he's sayin but I don't understand what he's saying all the way. Is he saying just treat the Ren like a regular hardware MPC. IDK.
By labcoats Mon Mar 12, 2012 10:29 pm
Yeah no worries Ceasi. 8)

Same as you . i Hear what hes saying but dont fully understand it. I get the concept, but it still doesnt answer a number of my question.

For example. If the Ren can run in a kind of self mode but still access the computers files which is doable, and we then take its outs in to our other sound card, and were running our Daw = how does it sync to the Daw. If it could run as a Rewire slave that would be fine, but there are no rewire slave apps which can access 2 different sound cards. Maybe options will appear in our Daws to send it midi clock. Just like you can see a list of many midi interfaces if you have more than. Hmmm, time will tell in a few months

An explanation here would put all this to rest. They must have read some of the posts in this thread.

I managed to get to the studio to test SPS. I'm afraid it wasnt happening for me. Its not a problem for the way I work, but I can see how it would be for others. You should still contact innerclock. Maybe I missed something.

i dont why u cant use 2 soundcards on a pc ?? i think u can .. if not then the mpc has a sound card on it .. and u all ready have a sound card .. so if that was the case the mpc wont work with a pc .. u see what im sayin ??
