thinking of getting a 500, portability being a massive thing. but i wanna know if its powerful enough to be the centerpeice of my studio? ill have my turntables/mixer (via RCA) and korg microkontrol (via midi) going into it, n monitors coming out? as i said portability being a big thing im not bothered by less pads and small screen.

which of these chop programs is best? iv herd mpcmaid beatbutchermpc and blue box are all pretty dope(as said in these forums), is there anything i needa know specific about them? im looking at getting the 500 in the next few days so time to **** around wit em aint an option.

Its so powerful, it'll have you on the street sucking cock for beer money if you don't know what you're doing. Does that satisfy your curiosity of its power?

Upgrade the RAM to 128MB (as easy as installing batteries in a remote) and stock up on CF disks to build yourself a nice library of sounds and YES.
I have bought it because I can't find my ASR-X Pro (someone borrowed, long story) and it seems to be doing fine taking it's place in the meantime. Granted I also have an MM6, a ton of hardware & software, a few MIDI controllers, live instruments, and everything else now but I started with just a sampler, a set of 1200s, a 4-track cassette recorder, and a room full of vinyl and I thought I was the coolest guy on the planet. Moral to the story is you'll be fine.
Best of all if you pay your dues using a sampler and turntables people like me (and I bet 1000 other people on here) won't look down on you like we would if you were using Fruity-Loops lol.
