MPC repair question

Hey Guys,

My MPC 1000 has had a lot of use and is about 6 years old now. i recently replaced some of the buttons particularly the bank and directional cursor buttons. It worked out well but the left directional button is failing and I have to press it really hard to be able to navigate menus and move through chops in the edit screen.Is this a tricky job? If so ?I wondered if there is anyone in the UK (for a fee) that could replace the tact switch?

It's not that hard a job if you've got experience with a soldering iron. It's literally a case of opening her up, very carefully unscrewing the board, lifting it up and then removing/replacing the part.

What I did was replace my directional tact switches with those from the top of the Q-link slider because I use those less often.

Lucky you having it 6 years and only now replacing bits. I got mine brand new and it started giving up after the first 12 months.

My advice is to practice on an old electrical appliance first if you've never tried to do something like this.

Also, be careful of the temperature of your soldering iron! Too hot and you could start frying bits/boards, and then you're really f*cked.

just reading that link, cheers 4 that. so i might end up spunking my mpc if i do it cak handedly...so to speak? Is there nowhere to just send it into to get done hassle free?

p.s. i am going to go to Maplin here in my town (Stoke on trent) later and get some Deoxit style stuff and try that too.
