Hi,
( i post here as the geeks run JJ-OS anyway )

a friend of mine lost his harddrive on his 2k5.
Now i lost my harddrive on my 1k.
We both run latest JJ Os.
My harddrive was installed 2 month ago.

Is this a known or common problem?
Could this be related to the OS ? ( i guess not)
What can i do ?

I can still switch to the harddrive.
It takes just longer time and i can´t see any folders. just see an empty page.
the friend can´t change to "harddrive" anymore.

I don´t move my MPC. only in the studio to another table to get PC connection.
I took the harddrive out and put back in to be shure connections are good.....

is there anything i/we can do ?
help is very appreciated !

did you guys build and drag pre made programs over?

did you limit file names to 16 characters for files you dragged over?

did you convert all wavs to 16bit/44.1k?

before replacing i would reformat the drive. for your friends, reformat with an enclosure. or try to remove, put back in the mp, if it shows up, reformat that joing. and adhere to best practices.

Not really, I got PC viruses on my mpc HD  it's got few years old and was travelling.. still works

I'd like to know just one thing, did you and your friend formatted your drives with so called "jjos formatting routine" or not? it's formatting strictly within mpc, not computer. I've seen some guys claimed it's not neccesary but.. really.. who would you listen: some guys or jj?

.

i never took anything over from the PC to my MPC.
all files were recorded and named within the MPC.
My Friend made files within the PC IIRC

hello
i just put my possibly broken MPC harddrive in such USB enclosure.
my PC ( win XP) was detecting the harddrive but told me it is not formatted.
Now it is in progress to format ---> NTFS
(there was no FAT32 option in the format window....)
just to be shure, is NTFS what the MPC needs, not fat32 ?

Anyway.. after you format and it will show up in mpc as working HD you should format it in mpc in dialog at save/load pages somewhere.
