HELP! Im trying to sync my 1000 to Ableton

I recently purchased an MPC 1000 and an M-Audio FireWire 410. I connected the MIDI cables from the MPC to the interface and the firewire from my macbook pro (10.6. to my interface.

When I go on Ableton and go to MIDI sync it identifies the interface but not the MPC. I set the MPC sync to "1A" to have everything in place still get no sound.

Am I missing anything? Please help!

you need to get yourself a MPC 500.

Question: if I want to work with the pads does that mean the MPC is the "master"?

and again do I need to purchase a 500?

On the control surfaces under sync I cant find anything related to MPC 1000.

I purchased the MPC a few weeks ago and i've done my research so I know this is what I want. While im still learning the MPC ive been told that with the pads on the mpc I can Record on ableton, this is what im trying to do.

i still think you should get an mpc500 though...
