OK, I'm going through the MPC manual, however, I can load a project, save stuff but so can someone tell me how to create a new blank project again.

What I mean is I loaded a few samples, however, how do I get to the section to create new song and remove everything loaded up and start afresh?.

You didn't even mention what mpc and os your on.

I swear, the new help threads coming out these last few weeks have NO details in them. We can't read your guys' minds.

wtf

power off, power on

manually delete every sample in the trim or edit screen, manually delete every sequence

and maybe more options if you are using the roland mpc 8800 with monster beats midi headphones.

You and harry ethics are killin me today, lol.

@ acr
look for a purge function in the manual.
USE your manual bid dog.
No one really wants to spoon feed the basics.
Jump into it, don't be scared, master it, make it your ****.

:(

Really sorry about this, I haven't got a manual so using the PDF but reading on Android Phone is giving me eyestrain.

I'm on a 2500 OS 2.14 official OS, I did get the free JJOS but I couldn't follow the 2500 beat making pdf tutorials.

then wait till you get home on the computer, come back to this site, look up the manual for that jjos and get busy.

SONG mode is used to create songs.
Songs are a bunch of sequences chained together.
Creat sequences first, then afterwards, you can chain them together using SONG mode.

The power on/off button can clear everything also.
I don't have a 2500 so you'll have to get that manual on a bigger screen.

as mentioned... power off and then power on.

OR

when you first turn on your MPC, go into the SAVE screen, create a new folder called BLANK or whatever... save entire memory into that folder. you've now just saved all blank programs & sequences... the next time you wanna start fresh, just go to the LOAD screen and load the contents of that folder you just created... also, when loading, make sure to use the CLEAR function so that everything that was in memory will be cleared... you can now start fresh without having to turn the MPC on and off at any given time.

and yeah... don't give in that easily... i can assure you that pete rock and dj premier [or whichever ol school producer made you wanna buy an mpc in the first place] didn't have the option of resorting to the internet in order to figure out how to use the sampler they invested their money in... i can also assure you that most mpc users hate having to answer basic questions...

keep at it and best of luck, man...

you gotta make it entertaining sometimes though...

oh, if you are using PDF manuals.. the number one tip (everyone will agree with this) do CTRL+F to pop up the search bar... type in the key word you need... this will work if the PDF is text based and not just scanned pictures from old old manuals

Can't search with ezpdf on the phone but thanks guys. I'm not giving up, its just a total different beast to what I used to ala Reason, Nanostudio. However, I love it, I really do its slower to load stuff and certain things but it just feels right, not having to look at a computer screen and just using your ears.

So far, I can load, save and trim sample:) on the Akai OS, going to learn that and then switch to JJOS free edition or when I have enough money.

Also are the Supreme Beat Maker DVDs any good?.

I say skip those DVD's. There's so many good free videos, many of which are made by this forum's members. These guys all speak the truth, get to know the functions and flow of your MPC using the manual as you go. It's the fastest way to have the ability to visualize what you want to do and how the MPC functions accordingly. It will become an automatic thing very quickly.

while supreme's videos are occasionally entertaining [only occasionally], he really doesn't know a damn thing beyond the basics of the mpc2500... all he does is program a kick, a snare, and then use either a loop or just a sample with 16 levels on EVERY SINGLE BEAT. just watch about 3 of his videos on youtube [if you haven't already] and you'll see what i mean... there is absolutely nothing he can show you that you can't learn on your own in about a week of sitting in front of your mpc... read the manual and you'll automatically know 80% more than him.

So true, but like you I'm mildly entertained. On the serious tip his work for Sunz Of Man in the day was great.

yeah... i actually really like the beat for "ain't no love without hate" [despite it just being a simple al green sample with 16 levels turned on]... i bought that single back in the day when it was new, but this dude is still in NO POSITION to be charging people for instructional DVDs as if he actually knows anything beyond what i just mentioned... he actually even encourages people to be lazy and sloppy in his tutorials...
