Hi. I have a mpc2000xl and just got my mcd drive to swap with floppy drive. Seems easy enough to install. I watched the video and read instructions. When I first turned device on all lights lit up but had a blank screen. I tried unplugging ide and power and now when powered on the lcd screen flashes on and off. Floppy drive still works. I ordered the mcd drive from mpcstuff. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

All lights on indicate the ribbon cable is backwards.

Thanks for reply... Do you have any idea what the blinking screen is now... I wish I could get it back to all lights on. Then i would at least know where to start.

Older cables had no directional keying that's why I said it.

Take out the mcd, ram, 8 outs, eb16, and start your mpc and see if it starts correctly. One by one add the other devices and power on with each addition to see where the fault lies. Be SURE to connect all the cables firmly into the connectors.

I emphasize one by one here.

Thanks for tip.... Im pretty sure the problem lies within the MCD.. After the blinking LCD occurred I reinstalled the floppy drive and everything worked properly... I think Ill test the MCD for a short today... If you have any other ideas Im all ears.... Thanks again.

Hey guys, I'm having the same problem.
I'm using one of these
http://www.compuapps.com/index.php?opti ... Itemid=208
Which worked initially, then started doing the flashy thing. I opened it and wiggled the cords, then it started working again, until a few days ago and now no amount of jiggling will make it work.

Basically, with the card reader unplugged, the MPC2000xl starts up in the usual way. With the power connected to the card reader the screen just flashes blank when turned on and the power supply makes a clicky sound in time with the screen.

I checked with a multimeter and the card reader is getting 5v to it's 5v pin.

I thought if it's a problem with the card reader others might have experienced it too.

My guess is that by building in the card reader more current is pulled from the power supply.
This could mean that the display is not getting the current it normally should get which results in the blinking screen.

What happens if you pull the power supply from the reader....does the blinking then stop...?

Yeah, the blinking only happens when the card reader power is connected. What stumps me is that it was working fine, and now it's not.

I'll try and test the card reader in a computer and see if it works.
