mo phatt

ok this is my situation. im might buy the mo phatt but i need to know before i buy how to hook it up to my 2kxl. please help me

i got a spirit e series mixer but i might copp a yamaha 01v instad

you should be good to go then.

i found that the mophatt works very well with the mpc.

your going to have to save several things when you start working with the two.

1.sequences saved on mpc.
2.drum pgms if you sample on the mpc
3.save multis on the mophatt


saving multis on the mophatt is easy, but you have to grasp what they are first. multis are sets of 16 tracks. Essentially you get 16 tracks that correspond to the tracks on the mpc. You have to save what presets are loaded on the 16 tracks (multis)....you get user spots on the mophatt to save multis for each song you do.

on the mophatt you have to go to global midi-> and turn it to "OMNI" and all you then have to do is plug in the midi and your good.

to set the tracks on the mpc to control the mophatt.......at the bottom of the mpc2xl screen, where it says "track 1" etc. change drum1, or drum2, To "midi" then turn "off" to the midi channel you want to use.

Side note: if your midi plugs are plugged into midi out "a" and in on "midi in 1". Then the track should say track 1-midi:1 channel A. the 1 refers to the "midi channel" and the A refers to what plug you are using on the back of the mpc (because if you notice there are 4 plugs, youll only use 2)

Side note: the midi channel you can change 1 all the way to 16, then it will change to 1 channel B.(switching to the other out plug). You get a total of 32 midi channels...but you have to split them between to plugs.

Track 1 on the mophatt corresponds to "midi channel 1" track 2 on the mophatt corresponds to "midi channel 2" so on so forth.

you need to realize the differance between "tracks" and "midi channels" on the mpc. this is important to realize because you can make 'Track 1' on the mpc, and use any midi channel 1-16. So essentially you can have "midi channel 1" assigned to multiple tracks on the mpc. get it? so like: mpc track 1:midi channel 6; or mpc track 2: midi channel 2. etc.

then realize that the midi channels correspond directly to the tracks on the mophatt. mophatt track 1 = midi channel 1; mophatt track 2 = midi channel 2, so on.

not sure of your set up or what equipment you currently have here is something to think about. i purchased the mophat and my mpc @ the same time. although the sounds on the mophatt are crazy and i love them to death (it took me 3 months before i got through the 2nd bank of sounds), i found that it does not carry many "regular" sounds like keys, synths, winds, etc. if i had it to do over again, i would have gotten a more natural module first, and then the mophatt. just something to consider. good luck.

very very true. I bought the "sounds of the zr76" expansion rom...and i would say its almost 100% neccesary to get an expansion. The piano is better than my triton.

I got the Mo'Phatt, XL-1 & two Orchestral soundcards inside an XL-1 turbo shell .......... but with all those great sounds I still didn't get a decent Rhodes or Hammond organ or acoustic piano. The little 1/3 rack size Alesis NanoPiano is great for filling the gap for those.

E-mu has a b-3 rom

there are some nice organ sounds on the "zr76 rom", im not sure if they are up to your standards though.

The piano on it is so ill. Seriously, i mean i guess it depends on your taste, but i was blown away by it.....no tweaking neccesary.

WAX IS CHEAPER

but what do you guys think of the 01v instead of my old mixer. if i buy the 01v i could use it as a midi controller to my logic
