Interesting, I never heard of this difference between xls, you're just talking about the material yes?

The material of the standard pads, 2kxl grey vs 2kxlse2 (red/white=softest feel & best pad sensitivity performance for me) vs 4k black pads. I've had all three machines, currently have the 2kxlse2 (orange machine w/ standard red/white pads) and 4k (original white w/ standard black pads).

Well Ive tried every getting on the 4k to improve the playing feel. Their just not good and its a shame because its the only thing hat really lets them down. THey can react to velocity well if you play the sounds from a master keyboard but not from the pads, I was impressed with the Maschine pads though. Shame their not like them. Im not even sure changing the pads would make mush of a difference as this seems to be inherent in the way the machine reacts to velocities when hitting the internal pads.

i think people that switch from the mpd regluar pads to the fat pads have good luck with their velocities afterwards, it might be worth the 40 bucks to try at least.

I have tried the Thick Pads on the 4k today, the pads are wayy to hard, with and without corx.

Corx pads make it even more arkward, more sensitive but wayy to hard.

I am on version 1.71, after changing the velocity senstivity to 200% on the pad assignement screen i have noticed that when powerd off and on it still says 200% but does not have a different curve from the next pad to it that is set to a 100%

Only when i change it back to a 100% and then again to 200% i notice a change.

Bug or something with sensor board broken ?

My vote is for the orginal pads without corx.

Thx

Is there someone we could contact like Forat or MPC stuff or some tech people to see if they can do something about them? Sure;y there must be a way to improve them. Every other MPC seems to get some special treatment somewhere along the lines. r is there not just enough of us with 3ks

Seriously, Im getting way better velocity action from my keyboard and from that I can see the 4ks velocity response is pretty good. So its the pads, or the sensors or I suspect something deeper in the way the sensors react to the velocity engine

Anyone care to guess who could be the likely candidate for looking to improve them

I dont see how those fat pads would be any better. This is a an actual velocity response problem when hitpng the pad -sensor to the velocity engine.
