No, you're not missing anything. Appears some people are now stalking unrelated people on FB and posting their personal details on your site.

Most likely, someone has never heard the name Rohan before - even though it is not uncommon in the commonwealth.

Has anyone actually successfully got a refund through paypal or their credit card company yet? Or is effort best spent writing quasi libelous posts?

I wonder what everyone's take would be on this if we found out Rohan had suffered a debilitating illness or worse yet, death. I guess some people would still slag him off from behind the safety of their handles for not providing product.

Why make this a sticky? Most new traffic comes straight to this thread because of the regular super sleuth updates.

I don't know the man. I did business with him without any problems. In fact, as I said before, he went out of his way to help me with other problems with the MPC not at all related to his OS. The first thing I did when I saw the OG thread was try to contact him to let him know - make him aware. My email was left unanswered. That probably reflected the gravity of the situation he was dealing with at the time (not that some people care). If he couldn't check emails, he most likely did not check this forum. But if he has checked since, I wouldn't be surprised if he never returns.

So, by all means, keep crying on here. It's not at all tired.

I am aware that many people have exceeded the official 'buyer protection' period (60 days?), but it would do no harm to get your reports into Paypal anyway. Plus if you paid by credit card, you have at least 180 days to file a report.

And yes, I agree, if the guy is not fulfilling orders, for whatever reason, people need to know about it and the payment page should be disabled. However for all the moaning and bitching, I have yet to see one person confirm that they've reported this problem to Paypal, nor any copies of responses from Paypal over the matter.

Indeed. Not that I wouldn't have bought Vailixi without contacting first. I think it was B.Read who advised people to get refunds very early on in the previous thread. I can't actually believe some people would have let the 60 days elapse. Not with that kind of money. Not with any kind of money.

True...that's the best bet, to get refunds sooner rather than later and purchase it if and when it becomes available again. I know it really stinks when you want something like this upgrade that bad, but if it's obvious it's not in the mail, your money's better off back in your hands until then.

Even if you are past the return date it's still worth emailing paypal and seeing what they can do. When (if?) Rohan comes back, I'm sure he'll make things right...but do what you can to get your funds back in the meantime.

I got a refund from PayPal in back in December. I opened a dispute (after multiple attempts to contact Rohan) and got immediate feedback from PayPal that said that Rohan stated that it was delivered, though the info field for carrier and tracking was blank. I'm guessing he just said it shipped to buy himself some time or try to win the dispute without evidence I dunno. Anyway PayPal investigated and though it took them a bit longer than they said, they obviously determined that nothing was sent and refunded me the money. So I'm one example of a person who disputed and got a refund from PayPal. It's just interesting to note that they seemed to have gotten a response from him so my guess is that he isn't MIA.

exactly my situation. I also received message from Paypal stating that Rohan delivered the product. Obviously he didn't and I got my money back.

As there's no answer back from Padlock, I've removed all references to the 'Facebook Rohan', as it seems it's clearly the wrong person. TBH, I don't want to see any more of this here.

As many of us have stated, none of this seems in Rohan's nature - the guy has spent many years working on the MPC3000 OS, which is a VERY niche, finite market. This was unlikely to have ever been about making money, clearly a labor of love from someone who wanted to help the MPC3000 community. Any talk of him purposely ripping off the MPC community simply does not ring true.

Yes, some people claim to have paid for the ROMs and not received anything. To those people, get your Paypal/credit card claims in asap.

To those simply worried about what happened to Rohan, as I said, a few of us are working on getting more information about the situation and will share anything we can, as soon as we hear anything.

Can we just keep this topic focussing on the facts, not the theories?

I don't know...

Anyone else in the 3000 group start getting random emails from folks? I've been getting quite a few over the last few weeks, which didn't happen before.

Yep, back in 2009 when it looked hot on paper and when it was about to be released (which it never did). I was promised a custom grill that would look like fangs and a paint job done in green with alligators swimming around all for $999. It was suppose to be the sampler I was gonna use for my Swamp Water Plague album but after the release date passed and some verbal insults from Aja, I demanded my refund.
