Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Went to a computer store today and bought a 40pin-39pin, Female-Female IDE Cable because I noticed that the CF reader I ordered from Amazon last week had 39 pins instead of 40 like it says in the description...WTF!! Is that going to be a problem?....and I'm still having trouble formatting floppy disk, for some reason this external floppy drive is not recognized when I try formatting via laptop and old computers so I have no way to update the OS before starting this CF installation...I'm not going to give up though, just have to find someone with an INTERNAL floppy drive and try formatting that way.

Ok I just finally formatted the floppy disc on a friends old computer. I copied 1.14 os on to it and when I attempted to load it on the MPC2000xl it said "NO DISK!"

Update: the light on the floppy drive in the mpc flashes yellow

yes its a Bin File and not Rar, but for some reason the mpc keeps saying "No Disk" could it be the floppy drive?

Erase the floppy, re-download 1.14 again from the above MPC OS & Manuals" drop down menu.

Format the floppy in via Fat.
Unrar, unzip the download & place the BIN on that floppy disk.
Make sure all the connections for the floppy disk are secure inside your mpc.

Take a pic of all your error screens and post them.
Check your SETUP screen. Go to the LOAD screen and your should see SETUP on one of the F keys there, go into that and make sure it says FLOPPY.

Try to install again.

Everything is in tact....I tried everything you said and and everytime I press do it or even try formatting to see if that works, I still get the "NO DISK" message...

It's weird because the floppy drive has been working and the little yellow light still flashes when i load it, but I guess I'll have to....what a hassle
