any luck? maybe the ribbon cable is **** or the drive... O.o..

also, for floppies.. it would be formatted to FAT12.. hard drives etc get formatted to FAT16.

okay well if there are no options, then it is formatting it in FAT12... that is the only FAT file system that is used on floppies.

Good luck, hopefully you get it sorted soon.

Update: I found out that one of the computers at my job has a internal zip drive, I formatted it, updated the OS to 1.20 so now its on to the next step. I was told to set the motherboard to Master... how do I do that? BTW this CF reader only has 39 pins so I bought a 40pin-39-pin IDE Cable, is that OK?

it should be fine... you could have cut out the blocked hole on the cable at one end to fit in the mpc so you wouldn't need to break off that extra pin on the mpc motherboard.

the thing you need to set as master is not the mpc motherboard... it's the CF reader itself. there should be a jumper that goes on a couple of pins... make sure you put that to master if it isn't set up already.

This looks to be the SAME drive W Steele has recently placed into his 2kxl. He didn't have the ribbon cable seated firmly into the motherboard and cf device and he kept getting the same thing you are seeing, nothing, no ATAPI on the SETUP screen. Gotta make sure that ribbon is in firmly.

ALL THE WAY IN.

(wait for it, wait for it...............)

Did you even try different slv/mas/cbselect jumper settings on the cf device?
