How come?

any1 know why when I hook up my mp-7( i use it as a sound module) to the 4k I can't hear anything out of the 4k, by the way Im usin headphones on the 4k, could that have anything to do with it(the headphones)? When I put the headphones on the module it works but when it's in there that means that I can't use the 4k's effects or anything b/c basically I cant' hear anything b/c once again, it's not hooked up. Aren't I supposed to be hearin the moduels's sounds evn though it's hooked up to the 4k?What should I do, or does any of this have to do with me needin speakers? anyways, any1 know how I can get this workin?

I would really apreciate it b/c I've really been tryin to get this workin 4 so long.Thanx

Hi!

Save yourself some frustration and get a mixer, just a small one like a Spirit Folio Notepad or similar will do. Plug your gear into this, and plug your headphones into the mixer. Plug the outputs from the mixer into the MPC for easy sampling. It's really that simple.

Now, you COULD of course plug your MP-7 into your MPC and just sample the parts you need. You'll be able to hear whatever signal you've got plugged into the MPC as long as you have monitoring enabled in the recording window. Check the manual for details.

Midi=no signal.

The inputs on the MPC are for sampling not mixing which is why your not hearing your MP-7. To hear both the MPC and MP-7 you need to run them through a mixer. Also if you want to process sounds from the MP-7 with the MPC fx you have to sample whatever sounds you want processed into the MPC. Other wise all the MPC is doing is telling your MP-7 when,what and where to play certain notes.

but isn't that what a sound module is for, if I want to get sounds out of it and do some effects from the mpc to the sounds, supposed to work? Or are all of the effects supposed to be done from the module, then when do I use the mpc's effects?

You are sending MIDI information from the MPC4000 to your SoundModule. The effects present on the MPC4000 only apply to Samples in Memory, not MIDI Data.

I reccomend you program any effects required on the SoundModule (via external rack FX or the SoundModules own internal FX (if present). If this was not an option, then you would need to sample the SoundModule into the MPC4000's internal memory, then the 4000's effects could be applied to that.
