I like to hit up Estate Sales in Oaklnd (C.A.) It's usaully an OG that's past away and the family is getting rid of all his/her stuff in the house they dont want. If they got records, I can usually get a whole crate of old soul for like 20 bucks. 45's LP's 12inch's.

yea, christian vinyl with families all wearing matching polyester outfits and crazed looks on their faces are good for the covers alone, and usually have some good samples to chop, or just play them through some reverb and delay pedals for some christian creepiness.

filters are our friends! I ca sample todays top ten and freak it, and you'll never recognize the songs.

Jazz records a lot of the time will have instruments listed on the back...if I see 'fender rhodes' or 'electric piano' anywhere then it's mine.
Album artwork always catches the eye, but I always check the year the record was made and also the musicians/instruments used. Song titles are a big clue as well.
I stopped going solely on record covers alone a long time ago after I bought this album of this chick covered in whipped cream and she was licking herself....turned out to be some dude playing some terrrrrrible vibraphone stuff....it just hangs on the wall now for viewing pleasure.
