Same thing has happened to me: when going further into directories, backing out, getting stuck, MP crashes sometimes. As a workaround, I one-click the rotary encoder to change the drive source and come back to the CF card (ie, it looks for SCSI or flash ROM) before going into a folder--usually when I need to make a critical save. This resets the CF card to the root directory and I right arrow over to whatever folder I need. I limit my backing out (going left) of folders to maybe the previous branch only. So, start from the root and limit backing out if you have a lot of folder levels.

Seems to be working so far, no crashes yet. I'm using a 2GB sandisk (only formatted to 1.07 GB) but am thinking about trying out a dane elec as a backup card. Heard those may be a bit better.

I have always used Lexar cf's with no problem. I've never gone over a 1gb card though. No need to.

I format the CF in Windows FAT, never going over the 8 character filename limit.

This may have already been suggested but You think that bothers me? NAW SON!

Anyway, when I first installed mines I had trouble with it crashing in the directories to which I figured out that it only happened when I went past 1 folder inside a folder (if that makes sense) so what I did was compile all the samples I actually use and renamed them (cause i gotz datz ocdz sonz) and put all my kicks/snares/perc into one folder then used some shit on my mac that deletes all the shit mac puts onto in your folders and it's never crashed on me since.
