Needles/turntable

Does the type of needle or turntable you use matter when youre sampling vinyl? I have a regular gemini tt-1000 and I only have the one needle it came with... I was thinking about gettin a technic just for the **** of it, but If its not gonna improve the sound or anything, I dont wanna waste $$......

yes... the needle/cartridge definitely matter when it comes to sound quality. technics makes great turntables, but not really needles... look into shure or ortofon if you're into djing... or maybe even grado if you're just looking to sample at great quality.

Be careful though...this rabbit hole you are heading down is quite deep.

Ortofon red is a good choice. Shure is less detailed but for sure,built like Shure!

either of the above, i use a shure m44 for sampling / listening and scratching and its pretty solid.

in saying that im using a $60 TT from second hand shop cos my needle is in need of replacing and the shitty TT needle actually sounds boss.

Your needles are.the.most.important factor...it is the Mic for the vinyl....however if your turntable has.shit.rca's or faulty alder on the rca's you can lose sound ...if the table is working fine..then leave it.alone and just ge good needles if your just sampling off it...

I use M447shure....I scratch/beat juggle sample off them no problem...I use to use the Concords but they put a lot of record burn on your vinyl quickly(atleast the.ones ten years ago did)

Don't waste your money on a super expensive table...if allyour going to do is sample off it.

if ur not djing, the cheap stantons work fine... something like $30 or $40

if u got $100 to blow, get the shure 447.

anyway, if your still reading thanks, bear with me...

i recently bought a stanton t.92, and the needle it came with for some reason seems to be playing really softly, (i like my music loud in the studio) so i end up having to turn up the speakers really high to get it decently loud.

any clue why this might be? im kind of guessing its the needle, not really sure though.. any suggestions on some good needles to buy for sampling/getting a decent volume?

second question (again, if your still reading your a trooper, salute!) this is a pretty simple question i imagine, i want to sample using this stanton t.92 into my mpc 1000, can anyone let me know if this is even possible with my turntable, and if so what cords i will need?

i got this, i'll be gentle too.

A Turntable requires a amp or some method of amplification.

Some DJ mixers have phono pre-amps inside, so the signal is boosted / comes out strong.

I think in your case, your Turntable needs a DJ Mixer mate.

You want a balanced stereo phono cable to stereo T.R.S. (balanced 1/4 inch) for the DJ Mixer to MPC.

For TT to Dj Mixer, a simple stereo phono to phono will do the trick.

That's an Audio Technica, not Akai. Several people like their needles.
