I agree with you there. These things are going to be dirt cheap once they become incompatible with the latest hardware or OS that Akai is no longer supporting.

 You are the cat using geist and a mpd, right? Are you really worried about upgrading geist each new windows or mac os? Maybe years from now at least ten.

Totally different situation though. Fxpansion is a far different company than Akai when it comes to updates. They supported Guru for many years after its release and are in current communication with their users about the state of the next Geist update.

In addition, Geist doesn't rely on my MPD to work, and my MPD doesn't rely on Geist. Quite frankly I believe Akai has already stopped supporting the MPD. I expect it to stop working before Geist does. At which point I'll pick up the latest pad controller. I'm under no allusion that my MPD will have any value whatsoever in another 2 years.

Good for you the direct competitors for the Ren would be maschine and Spark. Maybe Andy and Dan could speak more on what the future updates would be. I have a contact if need be if the unit were to be finished in 2yrs  highly unlikely but it would be an legitimate concern if any users was considering the new mpcs would last 20 yrs like a traditional mpc not happening.

I like you am going to upgrading my computer in the next five yrs and I plan to have the Ren for at least ten musical working yrs I research to buy good that I can work with. We are all adults people make their own choices no one does it for them, I hope not.

Blue Haze wrote:I still don`t get it though. You have a 1k or 25k or something, right ? You know that Akai stated that the hardware line is discontinued, right? You know that you can still make music with what you have, right? You are not going to buy any new mpc, right? If Akai changes and I am wrong and they change 5 yrs later building a hardware unit again you can buy that one, right? So what is with the hate and this latent grudge that came out of you when in my opinion the new mpcs are mpcs?

It seems unbelievable!

it's called JJOS... in case you hadn't noticed, there is an entire interactive forum here dedicated to the evolution of that OS. if it weren't for JJOS both the 1000 and 2500 wouldn't be half the machines that they are now. no thanks to AKAI mind you.

and 25k means twenty five thousand just fyi.

Yeah, Akai is going to be missing out in tens of thousands of dollars in sales just because of their COMPLETE cross over into the computer integrated world.

You can't use the new MPC without a computer. **** THAT SHIT.

We may not agree on much. We may not even like each other. And I realize I've pushed the buttons of quite few users I don't like myself. But moving forward, I'm going to try and keep my inputs to these threads on topic. It doesn't feel right getting all personal with each other, especially when new users may be looking to these threads for info.

Correct, and with that. We're done here.
