I am looking for an MPC 2.5K for a good price too....but I recently splurged on an ASR-10.

I am not suprised people love this pad cycle. Its one of my favorite MPC 5000 features.

Oh damm. I am almost regretting that i switched back to jJOS2 (classic). But i love the "curve" editor that makes it possible to control filter, volume pitch ect.

It's a wrap. Excellent update.

Yep, it's amazing. I liked the way he did it. Makes you wonder how good OS3 will be.

ok I've been playing with this and Yep its pretty dope!

As far as the simulted ghost note restrictions with the JJ pad cycle, I've tried combining it using the same MIDI out to in method as in my original work around. It does work. This work around might be worth pursuing if pad real estate is important, but obviously isn't much quicker to set up than the original work around.

You only get one alternative velocity pad though, as you only get one MIDI out note to trigger it. At least its doable as an option, or for other simult like requirements.

^^
also just typing that has made be realise how to combine mute groups with some simult like behaviour - using the same method!

i'm wishing there was a CYCLE2 option, like SIMULT2, where only the actual pad that is hit is recorded instead of the cycled pads.

this makes it difficult to use POISE for drum layers (does not send original pad's midi output once recorded).

CYCLE allows for the most realistic drums i've ever programmed, though.

yep. just sent that exact request last night. check the thread linked above for more details.

i personally don't think the pad cycling should be recorded at all, just the 'original' pad. so when the sequence is played back the cycling is still happening live.

but yeah, having a CYCLE1 & CYCLE2 option would be best. that way everyone would be happy.

Nym: "CYCLE allows for the most realistic drums i've ever programmed, though."

Amen. I really like the idea of a cycle 2 option, but I love the way it is now. I want my sequence to play back exactly what it records. If that makes sence.

This is awesome!

My only wishes for this are:

to set the GROUP section (used in mute group) as a (cycle) RESET section. that way it would force the cycle to start at the LEFT MOST (first) PAD everytime it was triggered. would be great to be able to instantly reset the cycle for extra control.

If JJ ever adds midi to this feature, this could be another way to trigger arpeggio or maybe a pattern? (don't know if this is already possible, pattern features confuses me!)

Noob question but what does pad cycle mean in creativity?, I don't see how I can use this or what its meant for?.

It plays through multiple sounds when you hit one pad.Theres a couple of things its good for: Making sounds vary each time you hit (e.g. good for drums) or playing through a simple 'sequence' of notes or hits.
Here's a video i did a while back which demonstrates the principle (this video is the workaround version though, not JJ's proper version - but the musical applications are the same.)
