A or B? What's your opinion.

I used to own a 2500 for 3 years, now i need an mpc again. All I have is a fantom G and I'm not feeling the sound/swing as much as the mpc. What should I do?

I have my eyes on ...

A. MPC 2500, custom thick black pads, black buttons, blue lights, blue screen, jjOS2xl, 128mb ram, no hard drive or cd-rom... I can get a deal for about $1700

or

B. Wait anywhere from 2-4 months for the Mpc Renaissance which is like $1299? Will probably take a few months to a year for them to work out the bugs and release updates that utilize the Ren's features

Moved to comparison forum, because in the JJ forum,99% of answers will be 'OS XL', and the other one answer will be from Jah

IMO, I wouldn't wait, because you can get started now if you go for the 2500, and if you want to go to the Ren in a few months time, simply sell your 2500 on ebay.

No one knows what the Ren will be like, nor when it will be available and what state it will be in on first release. Don't sit around waiting for the next big thing - if you want to create now, get what's available now.

People forget that the MPC 2500 is near and dear to my heart..regardless of which OS you install in it (when all the MPC 1000 users were hating on it...those MPC 1000 users are a passionate bunch I tell ya  ) . If I needed an MPC today...I wouldn't wait. I would buy the MPC 2500....but $1700 for the MPC 2500 isn't a good deal. I wouldn't spend more than $1000. Save the other $700 and put towards the MPC Ren....American Musical payment plan :D

$1700 is too much imo. I sold my 1000 and got a 2500 for $650 off of ebay. I added the fat pads - $50 or so, JJ OS - $123, maxed out the ram - $10-$15 off ebay; didn't need a cf card because I still had the 16gb cf from my 1k. For right around $835-$840, I got a fully maxed out 2500 (no hard drive or cd drive though). I don't see why you couldn't get something similar for around $900. So unless the black buttons, blue lights and blue screen are must have for you I'd save the $800, or just do those modifications yourself and still save a grip. You can always slang the 2500 once the Ren drops, that's if you still want to after you've gotten use to the JJ OS...
